Today is the last day of our zoo membership. We left the house in time to get there 10 minutes before it opened and were the first ones to see the giraffes.
Janie was also into speaking Spanish all morning so she kept saying, “buenos dias, jirafas!”
All 6 of them were right up front and eating their breakfast so it was quite a treat so see them all at once.
We also made a pressed penny of the giraffe.
She was so excited to have one, she showed it off to every zoo worker that passed us.
The next animal she wanted to see was the “leon”.
For once, the lion was awake and sitting right up front. What a lucky day!
Janie used her phone to pretend to take a picture of him.
Next was the hippo. He’s usually sleeping underwater and we never get to see him pop his head up but he was wide awake and eating. Janie yelled, “hola, hipopotamo!”
Oh happy day!
Before heading home, we always see the flamingos. We were done within an hour and on our way out, there were crowds and crowds of families and large summer camp groups entering. This was definitely a good morning at the zoo.
