I didn’t have time to take her 52-week photo with Senor Fatty Duck Duck yesterday before our flight. However, I managed to get a photo of her with a REAL duck today! Our little girl is officially 52 weeks old and turns ONE today at 12:14 pm.
This past week has been super exciting. The biggest milestone was that she started walking!!! She took her first steps a few weeks ago and this week has been able to get clear across the room on her own. She loves to walk while holding onto my pants and will do circles around me.
She also started drinking cow’s milk this week. I started her a week early so that we wouldn’t have to travel with as much breastmilk and my pump this weekend. So far she’s getting half cow’s milk (a total of 4 ounces/day) and half breastmilk in a bottle twice per day while I’m at work and I still nurse her in the morning and evening. So far it’s been going well with no allergic reactions or pooping problems.
Janie learned some new sounds: /g/ and /sh/. She’s been saying “go-go-go” a lot this week and will occasionally say “ash” while playing around the house. Could she be trying to say her playmates (Asher) name? Daddy doesn’t want to think so.
She will also approximate the sign for “more” by clapping hands together when I ask “quieres mas?” or “do you want more?”. She also signs “all done” by shaking both hands when I say “all done” at the end of her meals. She also learned how to open and close her hands for “Twinkle Twinkle” and I’ve heard her try to say “up above” in the middle of the song. Amazing. She also claps anytime I sing for her now.
Looks like she wanted to get all these skills in before she reached the 12-month mark and I’m so proud of her. Happy 52 weeks, Baby Girl!
