This morning during one of her feedings, I found her hand on the bottle.  She’s probably not ready to hold the bottle herself yet but we’re on the right track!

She’s also in a pretty smiley mood after she’s eaten and today she happened to think something was funny.  Unfortunately, only she knows what was so funny.

It’s her tongue!

This morning after I fed Janie, I put her down in the bassinet while I cleaned up.  When I can back, she stuck her tongue out at me!  It’s different from what she does when she’s hungry.  Her tongue was coming out of her mouth farther than usual and in different positions (to the left or to the right).

She was also doing it repeatedly.  Yaay!  She has voluntary tongue protrusion!  As an OT, this makes me so excited.  She’s one step closer to eating solids!

Bottle Baby

This week I decided to officially try sleep-training Janie.  I read the book and decided to pump and feed around the clock for a few days to make sure Janie was getting enough to eat.

So, she’s been drinking about 150 mL (5 ounces) per feed 5 times per day.  She starts at 7 am and then eats every 4 hours (11 am, 3 pm, 7 pm, 11 pm).  She’s been taking a total of just under 24 ounces per day and sleeping 7+ hours through the night.  I’m afraid to say it but I think it’s working!  Man, I hope I didn’t just jinx us.
