These two… They may have their disagreements and yelling matches sometimes but at the end of the day, they still love each other’s company.
Soda Springs
We got up early this morning and drove up to Truckee.
The kids were still in their PJs and put on their snow gear when we arrived at the snow park.
There was so much snow and more coming down in flight fluffy balls that looked like styrofoam.
Peanut was so tired by the afternoon and fell asleep on an inner tube.
At the end of the day, we had some tasty ice cream.
So tired…
Janie fell asleep tonight in this position.
Saying Goodbye
It’s our last morning with the family and the kids were up early to play.
They set up an ice cream shop and took turns being the customer.
Then it was time to say goodbye and drive back down to Seattle to catch our flight. Peanut slept most of the way and Janie did some writing in her notebook.
We also drove past the Space Needle before returning our rental car.
The flight was quick and the kids did great on the plane.
Sea to Sky
This morning, the kids were so happy to see all the snow in front of Amelia and Ellie’s house. They had a little bit of time to play before we piled into the minivan for a ride up to Squamish to ride the Seat to Sky Gondola.
The gondola took us up the mountain and Peanut was so excited.
At the top, there was a suspension bridge and other places to explore.
Janie drew initials in the snow and asked Mama to take a picture.
They also went down the tubing hill together and Janie kept her eyes closed the whole time.
Peanut was not tall enough to ride so he went to the store for a Canadian maple syrup treat.
He also finished off the timbits before the kids came back. He’s become a BIG FAN of timbits on this trip.
On the drive back down the mountain, the girls fell asleep in the back. Poor Janie became a pillow for Ellie and Amelia.
New Year’s Eve Party
We went to Zoe and Maya’s house to ring in the new year. There were lots of friends to play with and lots to do.
We celebrated at 9pm PST/12am EST with confetti and noisemakers.
The party continued and most of us stayed up for 12am PST but Janie fell asleep right a 11:55pm.
Happy New Year!!!
Sleepover!!

During dinner, Alice kept telling Mama that it’s “the best day ever”. It was because Uncle Johnny and Yai agreed they would let Alice sleep over tonight. They had such a good time together and had a hard time sleeping but they did a good job staying in their beds when it was time to sleep.
Back to Reality
Waking up this morning for school was pretty rough. Luckily Mama had the day off to drop Janie of at school a little later and also took Dada to the later ferry too. Peanut came along for the ride and ended up falling asleep in the car so he stayed home with Mama.
By mid-morning, he had fallen asleep on the sofa. Being two hours behind (Hawaii Time) can really mess you up.
Janie did great at school and even made a plan with Gavin to do some building with the recycled materials they had collected.
The kids also played cards before heading to bed.
Matsumoto Shave Ice
After lunch at Giovanni’s shrimp truck, we stopped at Matsumoto Shave Ice. Yummy!
On the drive back to the hotel, the kids got a good car nap.
Auntie Yoon’s House
This evening, we drove to Kailua for dinner at Auntie Yoon’s house. The drive was long enough for both kids to get a nap. Peanut kept sleeping another 45 minutes once we arrived.
The kids played with Trevor, who loves Paw Patrol and trucks too.
Janie did some of her homework before dinner and drew a cool picture of her swimming in the ocean and going down the big slide.
While the grownups ate, the kids were treated to dinner in front of the tv.
