We went to Godfrey Park after school today with Maya. They did a great job safely following Mama on their bikes.
Monkey Bars
Afterschool, Dada took Peanut to the park to practice monkey bars. It’s the one Kindergarten skill that he hadn’t been able to practice or master because schools and playgrounds were closed. It was so good to see him finally be able to cross them on his own.
Earhart Playground
Today we rode bikes to the school playground and someone was already inside so they opened the gate for us. The kids enjoyed playing on the big kid playground and wall ball with Dada.
There was also a game of dodgeball that I think Dada enjoyed a little too much.
Carousel
Mama found some old tokens that were given by the chef at Trabocco. The kids got one last ride before they got too big. Actually, they already look too big for this ride.
Making Scrambled Eggs
KK has gotten really good at making scrambled eggs. She learned from her Daddy and uses SO MUCH BUTTER. But they’re really yummy!!
Making Katsu
Peanut helped Dada make katsu for dinner today.
Oakland Zoo
After two failed attempts, we finally got to go to Oakland Zoo today!
Look at these baby ducks!! So cute!
The kids love the gondola ride. You can see Alameda from up there!
Malasadas and Beach
Peanut and Mama went to Leonard’s Bakery to pick up some tasty malasadas this morning.
Then it was off to the beach for the rest of the day.
The kids helped tow Dada into the ocean today on the donut floaties. They looked pretty ridiculous out there.
Hanauma Bay
Hanauma Bay was closed for a year during the pandemic and finally reopened recently. We were excited to see the fish return and to see if the coral had time to repair. The process for getting an entry was not easy though. Mama got up early and drove to the entrance to pick up a reservation.
When it was our time, we were allowed to enter, watched the short video, and headed down to the beach.
The fish were at knee level so Peanut could enjoy them from the shore. Meanwhile, Janie and Dada went out to explore.
We all had fun exploring and just hanging out in the beautiful fish sanctuary.
At lunch, there was a large bird hanging out in the restaurant. How funny.
For dinner, we went to our favorite katsu place and Peanut had a yummy kid’s bento meal.
Snorkel
In preparation for her first trip to Hanauma Bay, Janie tried out her snorkel set in the pool.
