This morning, Janie took my hand and made a stepping motion with her foot. It wasn’t until we got to the steps did I understand what she wanted. She wanted to climb those steps that were off limits. After leading her away from them, she went limp and sat down. She then proceeded to just lay herself flat on the floor. There wasn’t any crying – just a quiet protest.
Later, she led me to a set of puddles that she really wanted to walk through. After I had picked her up and carried her over to the open area, she did it again. I like how she slowly lowers herself back and gives me a look afterward. I couldn’t help laughing and I’m glad that this isn’t accompanied by crying or screaming. I can respect a little peaceful protesting every once in a while.
