Cypress Mountain

We are on our way for another day of snowboarding! This time, we are headed to Cypress Mountain, only 40 minutes from downtown.

The kids got their gear and had a group lesson together. They were pretty far out so we didn’t get any photos or videos of the action.

After a morning in the snow, we went to Ellie and Amelia’s grandmother’s house to play and rest. Thanks to Uncle Eric for watching all the kids tonight!!!

Mount Seymour

Today was our first day of snowboarding lesson for the trip.

Once the kids got their rental gear, they were each assigned a teacher for the morning.

Peanut just took off down the hill.

Janie learned how to go down using the “falling leaf”.

The parents passed out on the car ride back to Surrey this time.

We also checked into our hotel in downtown Vancouver this evening.

Sea to Sky

This morning, the kids were so happy to see all the snow in front of Amelia and Ellie’s house. They had a little bit of time to play before we piled into the minivan for a ride up to Squamish to ride the Seat to Sky Gondola.

The gondola took us up the mountain and Peanut was so excited.

At the top, there was a suspension bridge and other places to explore.

Janie drew initials in the snow and asked Mama to take a picture.

They also went down the tubing hill together and Janie kept her eyes closed the whole time.

Peanut was not tall enough to ride so he went to the store for a Canadian maple syrup treat.

He also finished off the timbits before the kids came back. He’s become a BIG FAN of timbits on this trip.

On the drive back down the mountain, the girls fell asleep in the back. Poor Janie became a pillow for Ellie and Amelia.

Heading to Canada

Janie has the next week off for “Ski Week” so we decided to book a trip up to Vancouver to do some snowboarding and to hang out with family. We all got up early and caught a bus to the airport for our flight to Seattle. The kids were good sports and we had enough time to eat breakfast at the airport before boarding.

The kids enjoyed time of their iPads and we had a smooth flight.

The next leg of the trip was to pick up our rental car in Seattle and drive 2.5 hours to Surrey, which is only 15 minutes from the USA/Canada border.

When we arrived, Auntie Amy had a spread of food prepared for us, including fresh oysters and uni!

Once Amelia and Ellie came home from school, the fun really started!

Shave Ice

Auntie Amy, Uncle Jay, Amelia, and Ellie were flying back to Vancouver today so we had some shave ice before they had to head out to the airport.

Janie got pineapple and lychee and Peanut got strawberry and lilikoi.

Back at the hotel, the kids said their goodbyes and gave hugs. We will miss them but hope to see them again soon!!

Dinner and Fireworks

After our afternoon at the pool, we divided and conquered. The kids went upstairs to shower and change with their Moms while the Dads went out to pick up dinner. We ate in the hotel near the pool and then Dada treated all the kids to ice cream!

Then we hurried up to Amelia and Ellie’s room to watch the Friday Fireworks from their balcony.

Jet Lag

After the beach, we all went back upstairs to shower and get ready for dinner. The sunset from the lanai was so pretty!!

We had dinner at the Japanese food court nearby and the kids needed a little distraction to keep them awake after eating. It’s 2 hours past their PST bedtime!

Lunch at Duke’s

For lunch, we all walked to Duke’s down the street and the kids feasted on all-you-can-eat lunch items. And they ate for FREE!!!

On our way back to the hotel, we passed by the pretty Christmas tree displayed in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.
