Disneyland!

The last time we went to Disneyland was in December 2018! Uncle Johnny got us tickets and reservations now that Disneyland reopened after a long COVID closure. With current safety precautions, we are required to wear a mask at all times and the park is at 25% capacity.

We got matching shirts to mark the occasion and we were all excited to get going.

The first place we visited was Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This morning we were disappointed to hear that Rise of the Resistance was closed for the day but we still got to enjoy the area for the first time.

Peanut tried to fly the Millenium Falcon but he couldn’t reach the controls. So naturally, our mission was a failure.

The kids tried the blue milk and thought it was kind weird.

Peanut was excited to find an X-wing and Yai got him his very own! Lucky kid.

Thunder Mountain was a big hit with all the kids. Even Leela went on for the first time and loved it. We ended up riding it at least 4 times today.

The kids also went on Space Mountain twice.

This is the look on KK’s face when she learned she was not tall enough to drive a car alone on Autopia. Maybe next time.

Some of us went on Splash Mountain and Peanut and Alice were prepared with ponchos.

Uncle Johnny was not as lucky. He sat in the front and got drenched.

We stayed until dark and unfortunately they didn’t start having any parades or fireworks yet.

It was still a very memorable and fun day with the family.

Chinatown

We took a drive to Chinatown today in search of Bruce Lee, almond cookies, a broom, and tasty Thai food.

The freeways were so empty that it took only 20 mins to get there from Cerritos and Chinatown was equally empty.

We found Bruce Lee pretty quickly and got some photos taken.

We also went to Phoenix Bakery and got some yummy almond cookies and other treats.

For lunch, we went to LAX-C and had some Thai street food. SOOOOO TASTY.

Peanut also go to eat the strawberry cake he wanted from the bakery.

At LAX-C, we went on the hunt for a specific broom that Yai asked for. We found it toward the entrance and made sure it was the same one that Yai has at home. Perfect!

We checked everything off the list today and had so much fun too!

Fancy Dinner

This evening, we went out for a fancy dinner at Five Crowns with the family to celebrate Mama and Uncle Johnny’s birthday. It was our first real dining experience in a long time.

They seated us at a big round table together under a patio cover and the kids enjoyed the activity sheets they were given.

It was a nice dinner at a restaurant with family after being home for so long.

Zoom Birthday

Janie turned 8 today and it was a very different birthday this year. We are in the heart of Shelter-in-Place here in California but still wanted to celebrate this special day.

Mama picked up party favors and gifts from Target on her way home, picked up cake from Baskin Robbins, and then had a virtual birthday party with the family over Zoom. Auntie Jia had sent a bunch of gifts this past week too.

Once everyone got online, we all sang Happy Birthday, she blew out candles, and then the presents were opened.

Toni and Thomas also drew a special birthday picture for her.

Happy 8th Birthday to our baby girl!
