For the past two days, Janie has been asking for a tea party with Alice. Today, she called and the two girls sat quietly scooping, drinking, and playing in front of each other.

In the meantime, Auntie Joy got to start dinner and Mama got to tidy up the kitchen.
Here was Alice’s view of the tea party.
This morning, Janie drew a picture for Dada. She wanted the Hungry Caterpillar so Mama helped draw the caterpillar and Janie colored it in. She also made the big leaf, brown cocoon, and sun.
She was so excited to show Dada what she made when he woke up.
Then she helped Mama make some pancakes.
She’s getting pretty good at mixing.

She was so happy to be able to eat the pancakes when they were done.
After breakfast, she also invited Dada over to the table for some dessert.
One of Janie’s favorite things to do with Dada is cooking. She helped make the scrambled eggs this morning.
She’s still learning the finer points of cracking an egg but she’ll get it soon enough.
We tried to give her a fork to scramble the eggs but she insisted on using a whisk.

Alice came over this afternoon and they had so much fun together. Alice brought her toys over and the first thing they did was had another Top Chef Junior Quickfire.
It was fun to watch them play in person instead of over FaceTime.

Afterward, they headed outside for a tea party.

Alice brought her tea set and they got fully hydrated on plenty of “tea”.
Next, they played with sidewalk chalk in the backyard and then moved indoors to do some coloring.
What a fun afternoon! This is when I especially wish we lived a lot closer to each other.
There was a little time between breakfast and church so Janie watched some videos with Ta on his phone.
She also opened the veggies that she got from Great Auntie Jeanie yesterday and did a little cooking.

After breakfast, Janie played with Alice. They started out with stickers but then it turned into a cooking fest.

She was making a soup with mushrooms and brocolli.
Long after we hung up, she was still cooking. Janie set up the tea set and also added some veggies and fruits to her soup.
We also opened the sushi set that she got for her birthday.
She cut up a sushi roll and made some nigiri too.
We made lasagna for dinner tonight and Janie helped put handfuls of mozzarella in the ricotta.
She also learned how to use a pepper mill today.
Then she helped mix up the ricotta, eggs, and mozzarella together.
The best part of making the lasagna was eating it when it was all done!
This morning, Janie said “I want to talk to Alice.” So, we called her and she showed us her new fruit-cutting toy. Janie got her set out and the two of them were chopping and stirring together as if it was a Top Chef Quickfire Challenge. Very cute.

Daddy was making breakfast this morning and got a little help. She starting to get the hang of cracking eggs but still needs some work.
Around midnight, Janie woke up coughing and threw up a couple times. She woke up every hour crying and calling out “MAMA!” and was miserable. As a result both Janie and Mama did not sleep well last night. Janie ended up sleeping on the sofa and Mama slept in Janie’s bed. This morning, she woke up at her normal time but was not her usual self.
So, Dada stayed home with her for the day while Mama went to work. Janie spent the morning watching “Finding Nemo” while Dada worked. She also went down for an early nap and slept 2.5 hours.
Then for lunch, they went to Tender Greens for some chicken soup. Look at those rosy cheeks.
She loved it and said, “The soup is yummy. It’s the best one EVER.” It was her first real meal for the day since she still didn’t have much of an appetite this morning.
When Mama got home, she played playdough before dinner and then had a nice warm bath.
She was making “pancake soup” with dessert.
Hopefully we’ll have a more restful night tonight and she can go to school tomorrow.
