We had a BBQ at Uncle Johnny’s house for July 4th this year. The kids played on the bounce house and in the tents. We also grilled and roasted marshmallows before the fireworks started at Artesia Park, Cerritos High School, and throughout the neighborhoods.
Back Again…for good
It’s been quite a transitional month for us and the last part was Mama finishing her last few days of work and Dada flying up to help drive the last items down to SoCal. The car was smaller than expected so we had to say goodbye to some of our belongings and leave them behind. The drive was smooth and they had dinner at an old favorite, Houston’s, in Irvine after they returned the rental car.
We are back in SoCal and we are here for good. On to the next chapter!
Moving Day!
The day as arrived! The movers came at 8am this morning and started taking things away to the truck. They worked very quickly and the truck was stuffed.
Maya came to hang out and stayed until we drove away. It was so sad.
Trabocco
It’s our last evening in Alameda together so we had dinner at one of our favorite places, Trabocco. We’ve celebrated so many occasions here and the chef has always been so gracious to us.
Disneyland!
The last time we went to Disneyland was in December 2018! Uncle Johnny got us tickets and reservations now that Disneyland reopened after a long COVID closure. With current safety precautions, we are required to wear a mask at all times and the park is at 25% capacity.
We got matching shirts to mark the occasion and we were all excited to get going.
The first place we visited was Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This morning we were disappointed to hear that Rise of the Resistance was closed for the day but we still got to enjoy the area for the first time.
Peanut tried to fly the Millenium Falcon but he couldn’t reach the controls. So naturally, our mission was a failure.
The kids tried the blue milk and thought it was kind weird.
Peanut was excited to find an X-wing and Yai got him his very own! Lucky kid.
Thunder Mountain was a big hit with all the kids. Even Leela went on for the first time and loved it. We ended up riding it at least 4 times today.
The kids also went on Space Mountain twice.
This is the look on KK’s face when she learned she was not tall enough to drive a car alone on Autopia. Maybe next time.
Some of us went on Splash Mountain and Peanut and Alice were prepared with ponchos.
Uncle Johnny was not as lucky. He sat in the front and got drenched.
We stayed until dark and unfortunately they didn’t start having any parades or fireworks yet.
It was still a very memorable and fun day with the family.
Cherry Picking
It’s one of our favorite times of the year! May is a great time to go cherry picking and that’s what we did this morning.
We picked and took home 16 pounds of cherries today and Peanut probably ate a pound on his own while we were picking.
The kids drew a picture of their morning and Peanut included all the cherry pits that he spit onto the dirt while we picked.
Earhart Playground
Today we rode bikes to the school playground and someone was already inside so they opened the gate for us. The kids enjoyed playing on the big kid playground and wall ball with Dada.
There was also a game of dodgeball that I think Dada enjoyed a little too much.
Making Katsu
Peanut helped Dada make katsu for dinner today.
9th Birthday
Today is KK’s birthday!! She turns 9 today and I tend to get sentimental when the first born has a birthday.
She opened her gift from Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason and loves her new scooter!
In the morning, she went to school and found her desk all decorated. They also had a digital birthday wall with messages left by her classmates.
We also went to dinner at Trabocco for a tasty birthday meal.
The chef came out with a birthday treat and sang “Happy Birthday” to her.
Happy Birthday, Baby Girl! We love you!
Malasadas and Beach
Peanut and Mama went to Leonard’s Bakery to pick up some tasty malasadas this morning.
Then it was off to the beach for the rest of the day.
The kids helped tow Dada into the ocean today on the donut floaties. They looked pretty ridiculous out there.
