We had dinner with Mama and Dada’s high school friends today and the kids got reacquainted with Andrew and Sienna.
Dinner with Friends
Mama’s old friend Auntie Holly was in town with her family this weekend and came over with Andrew and Sienna this afternoon. Janie was so excited to see her friend Andrew. Mama made dinner and the kids had a fun time making their own tacos. It was a big mess in the end but they had a blast together.
Later in the evening, the kids enjoyed their first thunderstorm with lighting and sudden downpours. They also played together until bedtime.
It’s so nice to see the next generation playing together without needing any time to warm up to each other. We don’t get these visitors from Southern California very often!!
South Pasadena
We drove up to South Pasadena today to visit Auntie Holly and Baby Sienna.
Morning Beach
This morning it was pouring but then it suddenly stopped and it was sunny again by 10am. Mommy and Janie made it down the street to the Waikiki Beach Wall. It was the perfect meeting spot for these tykes because the wall calms the waves before it hits the shore.
Janie was excited to play in the sand again and we rented an umbrella (Thanks Uncle Roy!) to shade us from the sun.
Scooping and throwing wet sand was a fun game she played for a bit.
She was so happy just scooping and dumping the sand into the bucket as well.
Making sand soup is so much fun when you’re not scared of Mr. Ocean!
Here are the kids enjoying the view with a bag of chips. Life looks pretty good right now.
Daddy showed up a little later and we all went into the water. It was Janie’s first time in the ocean and she did great!
At first she just wanted to cling to Daddy but then she was brave enough to sit in the floatie and play.
Hooray to a successful day at the beach and in the ocean!!
Pool Day
We rented a cabana by the pool for the day and Janie had so much fun. In the morning, we had almost the whole pool to ourselves. This is her in the toddler pool. It’s only 1 1/2 ft deep.
Here she is in the bigger pool with Daddy.
This kid is having such a fun time here in Hawaii.
Her favorite game is walking along the edge of the wading area and having a grown up follow her from the deeper side.
After lunch and a nap, Janie invited her friends over to the cabana for some fun by the pool. She played with Uncle Roy, Auntie Holly, and Andrew. She took turns with Andrew in going through the tunnel slide.
Then they chilled out on the pool chairs. Boy, these toddlers have it good.
It certainly was an epic pool day for Janie.
She fell on Daddy’s chest at sunset, slept through dinner again, and didn’t wake up until morning.
Dinner Date
Andrew and Auntie Holly were in town so they came over tonight to play and for dinner. Janie shared her toys with Andrew and watched his every move.
We went out for Japanese food and Andrew borrowed Janie’s tricycle.
For dinner, Janie LOVED the udon noodles. She also preferred to have them uncut. I guess it makes them more fun to slurp.
Janie also enjoyed watching Andrew. She would look at him and then look at me with a girly grin as if she was telling me, “Mommy, he’s funny.” Oh how we wish they lived closer.
Liberty Park
Janie played with Andrew and Auntie Holly this afternoon.
It was 90 degrees outside so we only really got to play on the swings for a bit before heading inside. Thanks for the push, Auntie Holly!
Here she is playing in the children’s rec room that looks like a mini library.
They have toys, books, puppets, and computers in an air-conditioned room available to all Cerritos residents for free!
On our way back to the car, Janie loved the open space and couldn’t get enough of everything around her. Here she is on the tennis court. I think she was headed to the beach volleyball court where there was sand but luckily Mommy had a tennis net to help keep her close-by.
She also enjoys walking on the grass. This suburban grass is much easier to walk on than the grass near our house.
New Friends
This morning, Janie met some new friends. When we arrived, she hung out with Kaitlyn and Lauryn, who came with Auntie Patti.
Later that morning, Andrew arrived with Auntie Holly. They’re seven months apart and will be in the same grade together. It was so cute to see them interacting together. Cheers to the Class of 2030!
Auntie Holly
Auntie Holly lives in NYC and she finally got to meet Janie today! Happy Birthday, Auntie!
