Watch us grow!
This evening, Janie was extra-excited about taking a bath. It was mostly because I told her she could have a tea party in the bath today.
Here she is with her yogurt cup ready to go.
I told her not to drink the water and she did a good job following directions. I could even hear her saying to herself, “no drink”.
When we arrived at the resort, it started out sunny but then the clouds were getting gray and dark. As we walked up the hill to the lobby, we saw lightning and then heard a big boom. That was Janie’s first experience with thunder and once we explained it to her, she wasn’t scared anymore. It just startled her every once in a while as it does with anyone who doesn’t see the lightning first. It took a little while for us to get our keys so we hung out in the lobby area with Uncle James and Ariel.
At the condo, Ariel shared her magnetic blocks. How fun!
This is Janie’s bed for the weekend. It’s a yoga mat with a squishy comforter and two beach towels underneath a bedsheet. Looks super comfy! Ariel had one set-up in her room too so Janie was excited and tried it out before dinner.
I think Janie was inspired by all the scenery because she drew this picture and called it “Trees and Rain”.
For dinner, Daddy made beef noodle soup and she had quite a feast!
Afterward, Janie and Ariel took a bath together and had a good time.
Janie loves sitting on the step stools that we have at home but they’re just too short for her to use at the sinks we have at home. So, we bought a taller step stool from IKEA today. It’s tall enough for Janie to reach the sink so she can practice washing hands and brushing her teeth in the mirror.
As Daddy was putting it together, she was “helping” by testing out the bottom step.
Here she is with the completed step stool. It’s funny how she’s figured out all the different ways to use it.
Looks like it’ll also serve as a table and seat for her.
Later in the evening, she had a tea party on her new table.
Here she is using it as it was intended. She looks like such a big girl brushing her teeth on her own.
That was certainly $20 well-spent.
We had a relaxing evening after we returned from the aquarium. While some people napped, Janie and Alice played with bubbles.
They also had a tea party outside on the deck. The weather was warm enough outside just hang out in a shirt and diaper.
Alice really enjoyed the “tea” that was served in the cup.
Later in the evening, after dinner, the girls took a bath together. Alice loved playing with the cups we brought and Janie helped pour water on her.
Today’s bath was extra bubbly.
Janie had a great time not only scooping the bubbles but also tried to wash her face and arms.
Mommy had an extra day off today and Janie’s first activity of the day was to go back to the doctor for her immunizations.
She got to play in the waiting room a bit.
She cried out just a little bit when she got her shot but it didn’t last long.
It also helped that she got a cool bandaid “sticker” on her leg after.
After the doctor’s office, we stopped for lunch and grocery shopping. Janie loved eating her chicken from a cup.
It was a hot day outside so Janie got her first bubble bath. She was scared of them at first because she couldn’t see the water anymore but got over it pretty quickly when she realized she could scoop it like sand.
Janie fell asleep in the stroller on our way back through town from the doctor’s office. So, Mommy stopped downtown to do a little shopping while she napped. Once she woke up, she did a little browsing herself before lunch.
For lunch, we ate at the mall. She loves Chipotle just like her Daddy.
For our bathroom break, we used the family lounge in the mall and the family restroom is complete with Janie-sized toilet and sink right next to the grown-up ones. She even tried out the toilet today. Here she is washing her hands at her sink. Oh how I wish I had one of these at home!
In the lounge, there were some wall toys and she went straight for them. Mommy got a little rest break while Janie got to play for a bit.
Here we are on our way home in the afternoon. What a fun-filled day!
I just have to remind myself that it’s all washable when I come around to check on her and this is what I find.
This is what it looks like when she helps herself to the box of tissues. Janie still has a runny nose and she no longer gets upset when you wipe her nose. In fact, she seems to appreciate it. She can almost blow her nose now too.
