He finally figured out how to put his hands together for a proper Thai greeting. Up until now, he was just bowing his head.
Counting
I thought she had forgotten but apparently she hasn’t. Here’s a video of Janie counting in 4 languages. She needs a little work on her teens.
afternoon snack
Janie surprises me with her vocabulary every day. This afternoon, she asked for “fruta” (fruit in Spanish) and also tried to say “por favor” (please in Spanish).
Snacking at the kitchen counter is her thing nowadays. Stone fruits are in season right now and she’s loving it.
Here’s a video of her snacking and talking. She’s mixing three languages in this video: English, Spanish, and Thai, which is typical of our daily conversations. I’m amazed at how flexible she is in her thinking. In the middle of the video, I asked “what’s that?” in Thai and she answered “nam” (water in Thai). Then she says “no nom” (no in English and milk in Thai). Then I asked “what are you eating?” in Spanish and she answered me in Spanish.

Janie’s gotten a little fancier with her moves and the grandparents couldn’t be prouder.
Sawasdee Ka!
Janie chatted with Yai and Ta this evening and she’s now more consistent with greeting them with a proper wai (the traditional Thai greeting/bow that you give to your elders). She also had an unusually large tummy this evening that she had to show off to them.
Saying “Yai”

Yai is what Janie calls her maternal grandmother in Thai. Now she can actually say it!

Ta gave Janie a little intro lesson on Thai dancing today.
