ferry and bus

IMG_1365

When it was time to return to the hotel, we rode the Star Ferry back.

IMG_1371

It runs every 15 minutes and the ride across the water itself is only about 15 minutes long!

Peanut had a great time pointing out all the other buses on the street.

Kowloon

IMG_1264

The kids woke up starving again because they missed dinner last night. Thankfully we have breakfast on the top floor every morning to get their tummies filled.

IMG_1271

Then it was off to Kowloon for the day! We rode the train across Victoria Bay to the other side of Hong Kong to find the infamous pineapple bun that Uncle Jason loves so much.

IMG_1273

IMG_1285

At the cafe, it was small but they managed to get all six of us at a table. The kids ate some bread with butter and condensed milk.

IMG_1286

They also enjoyed drinking milk out of a milk bottle.

IMG_1290

The cafe also happened to be in the pet district so we saw lots of fish stores with bags and bags of colorful fish for sale.

IMG_1307

As we waited for Ankong and Ama to arrive by train, we stopped at McDonald’s for a snack. Janie got a Kinder egg and Peanut got some chicken nuggets to hold him over.

IMG_1309

IMG_1316

On our walk down the famous Nathan Road, we saw lots of cool sights, cafes, and shops.

IMG_1317

There were some giant king crabs in this window front display.

IMG_1320

We walked and walked all the way down toward the water and Janie did a great job.

IMG_1324

Uncle Jason offered a short ride to give her feet a little break.

IMG_1329

As a tasty treat, Ankong bought Janie a watermelon drink with fresh mango.

IMG_1342

We finally made it to the waterfront and found the Bruce Lee statue at the Garden of Stars.

Exploring and Brunching

IMG_1203
After breakfast, we went out to do a little shopping and exploring.

IMG_1199

IMG_1204

We found some tasty treats along the way and Janie picked out a strawberry pastry for later.

IMG_1207

Since Peanut fell asleep, we decided to walk all the way to the Grand Hyatt where there was a post-wedding brunch for everyone. We walked through town, up and down bridges, and made our way to the hotel in no time.

IMG_1212

At brunch, the whole family was there and the food was delicious.

IMG_1213

IMG_1226

The desserts were particularly fancy and yummy too!

Cousins!!

IMG_4655

Auntie Jia and Uncle Jason arrived this afternoon and the kids got started on the toys right away.

IMG_4667

Janie was happy to see Auntie Jia and Peanut was getting reacquainted with her.

IMG_4659

Peanut remembered TomTom, NiNi, Uncle Jason, and Auntie Jia from just a couple weeks ago.

IMG_4665

It was so much fun to see all four kids interacting and playing with each other.

For a while they were split boy-boy and girl-girl but it eventually mixed into a whole group activity. Janie did a great job playing with the littles.

Dinner in Buena Park

IMG_4110

We went to Toni and Thomas’ house today for a BBQ. Peanut watched Dada and Uncle Jason get the grill ready while he had his snack.

IMG_4113

Auntie Jia put up their playhouse and Janie played with Thomas inside. They were making donut cakes.

IMG_4140

IMG_4115

Peanut later gave it a try and insisted that he use the back door to get in and out.

The kids had corn on the cob with dinner and Peanut gobbled up a bunch of steak.

IMG_4136

Once the twins went to bed, Peanut hung out in Ankong’s lap and got a good laugh.

IMG_4138

We were there pretty late and it was way past their bedtimes. Luckily, they held it together pretty well and then fell asleep on the short ride back to Cerritos.
