We had dinner with Auntie Yoon, Uncle Kurt, and Trevor tonight. The kids had a front row to the giant volcano fire.
What a fun evening!
Watch us grow!
We had dinner with Auntie Yoon, Uncle Kurt, and Trevor tonight. The kids had a front row to the giant volcano fire.
What a fun evening!
We were up early again and the kids watched the sun go up again. It really doesn’t get old.
We went down early to get a pool reservation and set up camp at our favorite umbrella/beach spot.
Toni and Thomas joined us early and they tried out the turtle floatie that was given to them at the other hotel.
We spent part of the time at the pool (during our 2-hour reservation) before heading back to the beach again.
Auntie Yoon and Uncle Kurt joined us again and brought poi donuts from Liliha. Yum!!
The rest of the day was spent at the beach and we all took turns in the lounge chair floatie.
Peanut had a little too much fun on the turtle floatie and was falling asleep on the water.
We pulled him out of the waves and put him under the umbrella where he took a 2-hour nap in the same position!
It later started to rain so we had to pack up and head back upstairs to the hotel room.
It’s Valentine’s Day and we were up early as expected on the first day in Hawaii. It was nice to be able to watch the sunrise from our lanai.
The kids wanted to go to the beach so we packed up and headed down.
We set up camp and pretty much stayed the whole day.
Toni and Thomas arrived a little later.
Auntie Yoon and Uncle Kurt showed up by lunchtime with Trevor and we spent the rest of the day with them.
The day ended with an ice cream delivery by Dada and Peanut.
It was another gorgeous morning in Hawaii. We are so spoiled waking up to this every morning!
We went exploring this morning before breakfast.
The kids also wanted to play at the beach so Dada took them down while Mama went for a run. You can see them playing from our lanai!
Auntie Yoon later picked us up and wen went to lunch at Tonkatsu Tamafuji.
After lunch, I took Peanut for a walk and he finally fell asleep once I let him run around a bit.
In the meantime, Janie stayed with Auntie Ranee and Uncle Jamie for the afternoon. They hung out at Paradise Pool and the lagoon until it was Happy Hour time.
Peanut did, however, wake up in time to ride on the pedal boat with the girls.
Back at Ali’i Pool, the girls continued to play in the pool and the grown-ups enjoyed Happy Hour prices.
In the evening, the kids showered and ate dinner in Yai and Ta’s room while Mama and Dada had a date night. Thanks for watching them!!
For lunch, we went to Uncle Dayantha’s house to hang out with Mama and Dada’s old friends from high school. We also brought Alice and Leela to the party.
We had a gift exchange where the kids gave a gift to one friend each.
Auntie Holly also brought a treasure box for the kids to pick what they wanted.
The kids made a big mess but had a great time. Auntie Krissy even brought out crafts for the kids to do together. So fun!! Thanks to Uncle Dayantha, Auntie Krissy, and Oliver for hosting!!!
We’ve been dreading this day but now it’s time to fly back to the Bay Area. Peanut sat on one of the lobby chairs waiting for Dada to bring the car around and it reminded me of a photo we took of Janie when she was 2.
Before returning the rental car, we had to stop at Auntie Yoon and Uncle Kurt’s office to drop off the gear we borrowed from them. We are so happy they will be in town for Christmas this year!
Once we arrived at the airport and got through security, the kids were free to explore until it was time to board the plane.
Highlights: Janie sat with Sophie for a couple episodes of Paw Patrol and Peanut took two naps.
Luckily the flight home was only 4.5 hours and both kids did unusually well.
Auntie Yoon bought us tickets for the Holiday Lights Trolley tonight!
We all hopped on a party trolley complete with Christmas lights and festive music blasting.
Peanut stood with Dada for most of the ride and danced to the music.

I think he had the best time.
We arrived Downtown right at the same time as the Tsaos! They had just walked over from their car and we waved to each other as the trolley drove by.
There was a huge display including a Shaka Santa and lots of trees inside.
We had so much fun! Thanks again, Auntie Yoon!
Today was the perfect day to hang out at Trevor’s house. It was raining really hard pretty much all afternoon and evening.
The boys loved knocking down Uncle Kurt’s castles.
We also had dinner there and Dada got his favorite octopus poke.
Before heading back to the hotel, everyone broke out in a foam block war. Good times. Thanks to Auntie Yoon and Uncle Kurt for having us over and letting us use your washing machine!!
We had dinner with Auntie Yoon, Uncle Kurt, and Trevor tonight. After dinner, we all went back to our hotel room to watch the fireworks from the lanai. Too bad we were a couple minutes late and missed the whole thing. So, the kids opted for playing on the bed and sharing snacks.
Today we flew to Hawaii and despite the shortened 5-hour flight, it wasn’t the best flight we’ve ever had. First of all, it was a completely full flight. That meant there weren’t any extra seats available for Peanut.
That meant we had a very squirmy and noisy toddler on our laps…and on the floor and aisle. He did manage to take two naps but there were times when he was fussy (right before he fell asleep) and quite a nuisance to everyone around us.
Our solution for his squirminess was to having him sit in the aisle after the meal service. He happily played with a plastic cup and a string of beads that Mama brought from home.
Janie did a great job (as usual) since she had plenty to do and watch on her iPad. She even took a quick 30-minute cat nap on Dada’s lap.
Once we landed, we are all smiles again but very hungry. As soon as we parked our rental car at the hotel, we went straight to Dada’s favorite ramen shop for a very late lunch.
Luckily, our little monster was sound asleep and everyone got to eat in peace.
Back at the hotel, we checked in and everyone got a bath.
Then it was back outside for dinner with Auntie Yoon, Uncle Kurt, and Trevor.
The kids enjoyed their poke tacos, broccolini, pizza, and mac-n-cheese. By the end of dinner, we were all ready to go to bed.
